It is an: Antiseptic, usually not the sole treatment. Removal is what is done if not resolved. Antibiotics if it gets infected.

Disinfects: It's a liquid antibiotic and gets places that ointments and creams don't. It is caustic to new granulation tissue, so it's best used once initially.
