Call his doctor: Metformin is used for diabetes or to prevent it if he is overweight. If for diabetes you need to see a dietiian to learn the diabetic diet with your husband and the same for weight loss.

Protein & veggies: If you don't know what to eat besides cookies, cakes & pasta it's no wonder he has diabetes! Diabetics need to minimize sugars & starches. Eat lots of veggies- steamed & baked, big salads, but limit potatoes. For protein have eggs, nuts, seeds, organic chicken & turkey, grass-fed beef.Ask for referral to a dietician.Pasta/whole grains OK in moderation. See http://abt.cm/1oYgneM & http://bit.ly/19XAX7E
