Ingrown toenail: First the toe is numbed and then a part of the nail is removed using specialized instruments to cut the nail back to the root. The size of the nail removal depends on how severe the infection and how large the skin fold are. Sometimes a part of the skin has to be removed also. After the nail is removed, antibiotic ointment and a bandage are applied. The recovery is very fast: 1-2 weeks.
