Brain arteries: CADASIL is a dominant gene mutation that causes thickening and thrombosis of small cerebral arteries. This leads to subcortical brain infarcts and results in migraine headaches, strokes, and ultimately dementia. There is no specific treatment, but measures slowing progression include no smoking, treatment of diabetes, high BP. migraine, and aspirin.
