See an orthopedic : That is a long time for a simple sprain to heal. You likely will need to see an orthopedic doctor to rule out ligament tear or injury. A plain x-ray usually does not show soft tissue injury.

I think so.: Swelling that persists for more than three months may be a sign of trouble. A bone chip or bruised bone may be irritating synovium and make it secrete fluid. Elevate the ankle at night and use elastic ankle support in the morning and see if the swelling will go away after a while. If persist see a specialist.
