It could: If done properly and for sufficient frequency, intensity , magnitude and duration. You must allow sufficient rest days in there to maximize effectiveness. Diet is critical in order to properly fuel the exercise and rebuild the muscle, and keep the joints healthy. You must work up to your goals gradually or you will get injured.
