Check online: There are many online training regimens like the "couch to 5k" for beginning runners. There are similar training plans for aspiring triathletes. Make sure you get a check by your doctor before starting a rigorous exercise program. http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/ http://www.Trinewbies.Com/tno_trainingprograms.Asp.

Trainer: Sounds like you might benefit from a personal trainer to get you started. That would also help you in developing the correct exercise routines with lower injury risk than if you just tried to do it on your own. Once they teach you the basics and how to progress you could then proceed on your own after some weeks of training. Good luck!

Club and coach: Find a local club and a coach. They will help you do it safely, comfortably, and correctly. It is a great sport. Go to USAtriathlon for more info. Good luck, have fun.
