Could be a flair up: Treatment of Primary teeth is not the same as Adult root canal therapy. Pulpotomies are the removal of the inflamed tissue in the top of the tooth. they stop the bleeding and pack the tooth with a sedative filling material that should preserve the remaining tissue until its lost. sometimes the damage is deeper than the top and the tooth can flair up causing pain.

See your dentist: Dental abscess infection may spread to the face, sinus brain or neck. Direct spread from a dental source can account for up to 10% of brain abscesses. See your pediatric dentist for a drainage and preventive treatment. Take care.
