Probably not: Possibilities include failure of the antibiotic to treat bacterial infection (for several reasons); non-bacterial infection which did not require antibiotics to begin with; allergic reactions to the antibiotic given; a new infection with an organism not susceptible to the antibiotic the baby is receiving; a non-infectious inflammatory condition unrelated to the first illness.
