The difference...: Is that in a panniculectomy, the excess "apron" of fat and skin is removed from the abdomen through a long incision at the lower abdomen. In an abdominoplasty, the same thing is done but also (and very importantly) the rectus muscles are brought back to their normal position in the midlne and the abdominal muscular wall is tightened.

Differ but similar: A tummy tuck is a lay term and not a technical definition. A panniculectomy literally refers to excision of the abdominal panniculus also known as skin and fat that covers the body but typically refers to redundant skin and fat that hangs off the front of the abdominal wall ( -commonly referred to as an apron).
