It depends: It depends on why it is numb. From the infection or possibly damage to a nerve. You need to discuss this with the dentist that took out the tooth to get a good answer. Injured nerves recover very slowly in some cases but you need to have a qualified person do a detailed examination to determine what the problem is.

Call your surgeon: Your surgeon should have been immediately advised of your condition. There are medications and procedures available to help the healing process. These should have been started soon after the extraction if that's when the paresthesia started. Don't delay, make the call.

Pain and swelling following dental extraction is usually at its worst 24 – 48 hours after surgery, after that it should subside more and more every day and after 7 days stop.Two weeks numbness is serious and requires attention and you should call your dentist or an oral surgeon for follow up appointment.
