See dentist ASAP: A dental infection can cause pain, swelling and numbness. I suggest you get your mom to a dentist as soon as possible. If the swelling worsens and you can't get to a dentist, take her to the emergency room.

Get to dentist: She will need an exam and evaluation by a dentist to develop a plan to resolve her problem. If cost is a barrier to getting to a private dentist, see if there is a community health center near her that may be able to provide lower cost care. There is a potential for increasing complications if a long delay in seeking diagnosis happens.

See a dentist: Your mother should see a dentist right away, she probably needs an antibiotic and the abscessed tooth requires dental attention immediately.
