See OS immediately!: What you describe is an emergency situation and should be seen immediately by an oral surgeon. Infections can spread to other parts of the body and can cause serious complications, some of which you are already experiencing. It can get even worse. The infection needs to be evaluated for possible i&d, appropriate antibiotic coverage and resolution of the cause. If necessary go to er!

Run!: Do not walk. See either a dentist, oral surgeon, or on er ; asap. You should not fool around with home care and advice from"friends".You most likely need treatment and antibiotics. Good luck.

See Endodontist : If you are intrested in saving the tooth, and if it is salvageable, an endodontist can both perform the root canal and contain the swelling by doing an incision a nd drainage and placing you on the proper antibiotic.
