It should go away: An infected tooth that required extraction means that you did have an abscess. That is why they extracted your tooth. Like any infection it will take time to heal. Now that the source of the infection is gone it will start to heal. The antibiotic will help. It should start to feel better within 1-3 days. If not then go back to your dentist for followup.

Should disappear: If this is residual inflammation or infection, it should resolve now that the cause of the infection is gone. Of course if this is actually part of your jaw (exostoses) that you are feeling, it will not go away.

Be patient: It is common to experience pain and swelling after infected tooth extraction. It may last for 7-10 days. If you experience severe pain or swelling 7 days after tooth removal, visit your dentist to rule out any complications.
