Trauma to leg: If your xr was negative, you most likely have a bruise on your leg or you might have hurt it after the fall. Either way, i would suggest icing the area to clot your blood and watching it over the next couple of days. If the busing persisted, i would consult a doctor and have your blood tested to clotting times.

Probably not: The bruising that you see is from blood accumulating in the soft tissues. It may get hard as it organizes, it may turn purple yellow or blue and "spread" to the adjacent areas. If you are developing swelling and pain in the back of the calf which was not present previously this could represent a clot in the vein and should be investigated with an ultrasound exam.
