Why wait?: If you are not comfortable/confident in what the first doctor has advised you then you should get a second option as soon as you can comfortably get one. There is no reason to wait. If the first doctor was not a pediatric orthopedist then you defiantly need a second option from a pediatric orthopedist. There are several on long island.

Normal "cracks": A kid at 12 will have growth centers located just before the end of the long bones that may appear as "cracks" but represent soft bone that has not fully calcified. There are also nutrient groves in bone that represent small blood vessels but may appear like a crack. If you don't feel your questions were answered by doc 1, then look for a second opinion.
