Injured calf playing pickleball, went to er and had blood clot/dvt ruled out. referred to ortho for muscle strain/tear. ankle and heel is now swollen and sore. is this related to calf injury or walking differently?

The Achilles tendon may be involved besides the gastrocnemius muscle. Ice the area, take Ibuprofen OTC with food as needed for pain, resting that foot by using a crutch, and see the orthopedist as soon as possible.

Yes, your injury likely involved the ankle/heel with an ankle sprain high on the list of possible injuries. Seeing Ortho promptly will help in clarifying, further films may be needed.
