Acute: Hi. No, that's what we in medicine refer to as acute recognition of a chronic problem. Your diabetes is not controlled, but this did not occur overnight. Do you have an endocrinologist? If not, I'd suggest you get one. I'd put you on insulin, at least temporarily (if you're not already), & discuss treatment options, BG goals, A1c goals, screen for complications, & healthy diet & regular exercise.
