1 week: A coloric deficit of 3500 calories is equal to about 1 lb.. This deficit should be a mix of increased exercise, and decreased consumption. A good diet with exercise will produce about a 1,000 cal deficit daily - 7,000 per week. This is about 2 lbs. Most scales will show a 2 lb loss.. so figure about a week to see a change.

You have to: burn off 3500 calories that you don't take in to lose one pound. You home scale may not be sensitive enough to indicate that small loss, particularly since your weight varies by a pound or two up and down throughout the day.
