I have had an infection in my gums for 4 now... i lost my taste buds during this time. how can i figure out if im tasting pus, tarter or calculus? tomorrow is my 2nd n last scaling and route planning at 8 30am battling evil evil heavy fatigue?

If you lost your taste buds than you can't taste anything, even the things you mentioned. If you are on antibiotics or any other medications than your taste buds could be effected. The enhanced treatment your receiving should restore your taste buds and cure the infection and provide good oral health, as long as you follow home care instructions.

With your history, I would suggest that you seek evaluation from a gum/bone specialist, a Periodontist.
