Depends: A blocked ear can be the result of several disorders; not all would make you sick. Impacted wax should not make you sick. However, a middle ear infection is always secondary to disease (infection, viral or bacterial) in the back of the nose and that would make you sick. If you have a hearing loss associated with this blockage you need to see a physician, preferably an ENT doctor.
