Doctor can check: That usually means that the ear wax absorbed the ear drops and expanded or melted into a glob that is blocking the entire ear canal, thus muffling one's hearing. The good thing is that the wax is usually soft enough for the doctor to flush out now. Of course there is no way of knowing that this is actually the case, unless one's doctor looks into the ear.
