Very safe: When all standard safety precautions are taken, dental X-rays are very safe with minimal radiation and maximum resolution. Today's X-ray equipment is able to eliminate unnecessary radiation. The test is necessary for a proper diagnosis.

Choice: Extremely low level diagnostic x-rays or infection that can't be seen with naked eye until damage is severe. As an Orthodontist I've had to work very hard to undo the damage to children caused by well meaning parents with an irrational fear of diagnostic x-rays. Please follow your well trained and experienced Dentist's advice.
