My left nostril gets so dried out that it causes horrible facial pain which triggers a severe headache. and over-the-counter meds don't help. ?

Saline irrigation: Try irrigating your nose with sterile saline daily. Applying a topical moisturizer nasal gel may help as well. This is at time complication from nasal turbinate reduction surgery to reduce the nasal obstruction.
