Back injuries?: Pain radiating down the leg could be a nerve root pain, especially if it radiates below the knee. Your doctor will look into your history of injuries, back pain, and numbness or weakness in the leg. Sometimes sacroiliac joint or hip joint pain also radiates down the leg. If the pain turns out to be in the joint, your doctor will think of a possible joint infection (lyme disease, for example).
