Some are malignant: The word cancerous usually implies "malignant" as opposed to a growth that is "benign." pituitary tumors can be both benign, meaning tumors that can usually be removed to cure them, and often do not spread to other parts of the body, and the cells do not invade other tissues; or they can be malignant, meaning they spread into other areas of the body. Very few pituitary tumors are malignant.
