Tongue coating: It is hard to say what is causing the pain and coating in your tongue. Could be allergies, viral, or many other causes. Try brushing your tongue or using a tongue scraper to remove the coating. If the pain persists see your dentist and have this checked. Good luck.

Tongue: You could have burned your tongue on something hot, temp-wise. As far as the coating, it could be from smoking or taking antibiotics recently. Go see your family doctor!
