Probably normal: Probably just normal and nothing to be concerned about. If you want to be 100% sure about that, you will have to have your dentist actually take a look at it.

Many reasons: Many reasons one may be lichen planus. Could be diet. Do you smoke? Multiple medications could dry the mouth and make the tongue white. Could be yeast or candidiasis . You need to seek medical or dental attention.
