Yellow coating: Why did you not discuss this with the dentist who actually saw you? Call and ask. Most of the time these coating are related to poor oral hygiene. Use a tongue scraper daily. See: http://www.mayoclinic.org/symptoms/yellow-tongue/basics/definition/sym-20050595

Yellow coating: Since we have not seen you clinically, nor do we know your medical and dental history, we would only be guessing. This should be discussed with your dentist.

GERD: may be seen with redness and a yellowish coating in the back of the tongue. See your PCP for tests and treatment.
