Cat scan: You need a cat scan for a specific diagnosis. Unilateral sinusitis is rarely serious but you must see a competent ENT surgeon for advice. Amoxacillin is an appropriate antibiotic but remember, sinusitis is not always bacterial in origin. It can rarely be fungal or allergic but basically, the opening of the sinus is blocked. See an ENT doctor.

Get cultures: The proper antibiotic may solve it. Daily or twice daily saline irrigation of nostrils may clear mucous. Be examined to be sure the sinus opening is adequate.

Chronic sinusitis : Are usually treated with oral antibiotics for 3-4 weeks eg Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) or combination of Metronidazole /macrolide or 2nd or 3rd generation cephalosporins or the newer antibiotics- quinolones. For resistant cases, surgery may be required to reestablish sinus ventilation and to restore the functional integrity of the inflamed mucosal lining. Consult with ENT specialist to get it taken cared of.
