It would be best to consult a psychologist or other professional therapist who is trained in the cognitive-behavioral methods of "exposure and response prevention". These methods help you to experience the anxious thoughts without resorting to rituals, and give them time to subside naturally. Meds can be help- so start 1st with meds/therapy. Both can work.
