Osteoarthritis: May try over the counter meds like aleve (naproxen) or ibuprofen. If no improvement check with physician about a prescription anti-inflammatory medication.

Medication for OA: Generally the NSAIDs work the best as they control the pain as well as the inflammation, which is in part the reason for the pain in the first place. Ibuprofen and Naproxen and Meloxicam are good examples of this.
