Excellent choice: Daily Truvada (emtricitabine and tenofovir) is a good idea if you are at high risk for HIV due to behaviors such as unprotected receptive anal intercourse. But Truvada (emtricitabine and tenofovir) does NOT protect you 100% from HIV. If an HIV positive partner with a high viral load ejaculates into you, there is still a chance that you can become positive. Condoms are still the best protection, and Truvada (emtricitabine and tenofovir) will not protect against other STDs.
