Radiculitis: Good question. An EMG shows if there is essentially nerve damage to the extent that the nerve is starting to no longer connect to the various muscle fibers being checked with the EMG needle. If instead the nerve is just "irritated" by a bulging disc or bony facet spur than the nerve will still be healthy enough to maintain the connection to the muscle and the EMG result will be normal.

Places to look: 1. Has piriformis syndrome been carefully evaluated? 2. Peripheral sciatica may be diagnosed by direct measurements of sciatic nerve trunk. Did your EMG check that? 3. Has sacroiliac disorder been excluded? 4. Was blood test done for ankylosing spondylitis?
