No see a dentist: Infections can be life threatening, we get complacent because antibiotics are available and work nicely to keep it at bay. To resolve it you will need to have a root canal or extract the tooth or possibly have your teeth cleaned if it is a gum infection.

No: No, a dentist can determine the cause of the infection and discuss your treatment options. See one asap as untreated infections can spread and lead to serious complications including death. Does carpeting in your house fix a leak in your roof?
