Many reasons: Sinusitis is a favorite term that lay people use when they walk into a doctors office. First a diagnosis needs to be made with a cat scan. That is the gold standard. But to be more specific, here are some possibilities. 1.) allergic rhinitis, 2.) hypertrophy of the middle turbinates of the lateral wall of the nose, 3.) a severely deviated nasal septum, 4.) specific granulomas of the nose.See ent.
