It depends,safe,why?: Poorly absorbed forms of magnesium like mag. Oxide interfere with iron absorption whereas water-soluble forms like mag. Aspartate may not interfere- see http://www.Ncbi.Nlm.Nih.Gov/pubmed/8024640 it's safe to take together but might be prudent to take 2 hours apart. But iron deficiency is rare in men, even in men with anemia. I advise against men taking iron unless you're sure you're deficient.
