16 weeks pregnant, is it ok to get braces? the braces i am planning to get are called fastbraces... there are different from traditional.

It can be fine but..: Pregnant women can receive orthodontic treatment. However, one should be aware of some possible issues that need to be considered. First, there is a tendency for the gums to become inflamed due to hormonal changes. Second, oral hygiene sometimes suffers for a number or reasons. It can be done although brushing and flossing properly as well as diet is essential! perhaps better 2 wait?

Yes but...: I have not heard of fastbraces. During pregnancy, the gums may swell more and it can be harder to maintain excellent oral hygiene. Braces can complicate the home care. You may want to get more than one opinion of the braces and type.

Fine, but: beware the gimicks. If fast braces fer as effective and took shorter, we'd all be using them! but yes, we have patients who are pregnant start braces. will not impact your pregnancy. that said, with all the goes on during delivery and the first few weeks (I'm a mom of 2-- I know!).
