A member asked:

I had a bad sore throat in jan w/an enlarged 2.8cm cerv. node that didn't go away. fna was negative.excisional was done. what's the likelihood of ca?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Adenopathy: 2.8 cm is certainly considered pathologic; really the actual assessment of the tissue is your answer. There are several possible diagnosises, infection, inflammation, autoimmune disease , reactive and yes, malignancy. I would wait for the results, if malignancy is found, have it sent to a center of excellence for a confirmatory second opinion.
