Sorethroat/ Lymph: "reactive lymphoid hyperplasia" means that the lymph node was responding to an infection or inflammation in the adjacent area, like the very sore throat you described. I would imagine the lymph node has been enlarged for quite a while. Typically no need to fna a lymph node in the face of acute inflammatory process. See local ENT for a complete head ; neck exam and maybe a throat culture ; mono spot.

Benign report...: Fna of the lymph node is the first step in diagnosing the cause of lymphadenopathy. The quote from the pathology report means the findings of the aspirate are benign. Lymphoid hyperplasia means there is external stimulation of the lymph node by infection or possibly an autoimmune process. Please follow up closely with your doctor. Sometimes more tests are needed if it doesn't go down in size.
