A member asked:

What doctor should i see if i have enlarge left jugular vein. i hear it in my ear all the time nonstop. did a ct scan my physician has no idea?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Carotid artery: Hearing a pulsating sound in the ear is most likely an awareness of the carotid artery pulsating next to the cochlea (inner ear hearing organ). It is not that rare. But for peace of mind, i would consult a vascular surgeon to determine the patency of the left carotid artery. I doubt this is a so called enlarged jugular vein unless a cat scan has documented it.
