A member asked:

Hi, so my head cracks sometimes when i move it. like i can feel it and hear it. should i get an mri? also what could be causing this? its been happening since i was little and it really bothers me. my doctor has no idea what it is. please help.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Probably not: An MRI shows soft tissue abnormalities. Brain MRI can be used to detect brain tumors, traumatic brain injury, developmental anomalies, multiple sclerosis, stroke, dementia, infection -- however, none of these will cause a cracking sensation.
