Sounds right: Clarithromycin is a well accepted antibiotic used for strep throat. The correct dosage for children is 15mg per kg per day divided evenly into two equal doses. The maximum dose is 1000mg per day or 500mg per dose. For a 6 yr old child 250mg per dose twice daily sounds approximately right for a 6 year old boy.
