IDA - cause?: The best measure of iron deficiency anemia (ida) is serum ferritin (which is low here). The gold standard is a bone marrow biopsy (bmb), but that is rarely needed. The real question is what is the cause of the ida in a 28 year old male? Iron can help improve the iron stores and ability to produce rbcs and raise hgb. Need to find root cause.
