Can a high dose of synthroid (thyroxine) do harm to the body?

Yes: Would give you the same effects as being hyperthyroid; palpitations, heart rhythm problems, anxiety and nervousness just to name a few.

If excessive : Some people need a higher than average dose to keep the thyroid hormone levels normal, but in excess, i.e. If the thyroid hormone levels are high, it can cause an irregular heartbeat and can lead to early osteoporosis.
