Chronic appendicitis: Chronic appendicitis can cause symptoms for many days to weeks. Typically patients are quite sick and are seeking medical attention because of abdominal pain, fever, and/or vomiting. Usually diagnosis requires evaluation by a surgeon and high resolution imaging such as a cat scan of the abdomen. Ultrasound imaging is also used as well as an adjunct.
