Chronic appendicitis: Chronic appendicitis exists and is often not treated. Acute appendicitis has a different risk/benefit analysis, in favor of surgery to avoid abscess. Okay to ask your doc for referral to general surgeon to discuss your case. Take a friend with you to hear the risk/benefit analysis of elective appendectomy.
