Not likely serious: Partial anomalous pulmonary venous return, or papvr, often causes no symptoms if it is found in isolation. Often though, it can accompany other structural problems of the heart. Papvr as you describe may ultimately lead to shortness of breath, exercise intolerance, lung problems later in life, but usually not in teenage years or early adulthood. This requires cardiology evaluation and followup.

Depends: Severity depends on if there are any other defects ; how much of the pulmonary venous return is abnl. If no other defects ; only 1 anomalous vein, then the amount of left to right shunting will not be much, there won't be that much extra blood flow to the lungs, ; there probably won't be any symptoms or need for surgical repair. Right heart enlargement can assess how significant the shunting is.
