Can you explain if it's possible to have ptsd if there was no physical abuse?

Causes of PTSD: Posttraumatic stress disorder (ptsd) may develop after a person is exposed to one or more traumatic events, such as sexual assault, serious injury, or the threat of death. Any severe trauma, or repetitive traumatization can result in ptsd. Physical abuse does not necessarily result in ptsd.

PTSD : PTSD results from either being put in harms way with the real possibility of loss of life or inability to escape or the perceived threat of loss of life, and inability to escape. No physical harm has to take place in any of these scenarios, only the perception of severe physical harm or death.

PTSD: Absolutely. The most common precipitant to PTSD dx in the USA is having been raped. But as a trauma expert, I have seen it after car accidents, seeing someone die, working EMT/police/firefighting/train engineers. Of the most effective trauma treatments I most strongly recommend EMDR. Check for provider expert in treating trauma.

Exposure in PTSD: Exposure that results in PTSD can be actual or threatened, direct or witnessed, so yes, it is possible to develop PTSD in the absence of physical abuse.
