CPT: There are many types of counseling. Cognitive processing therapy (a form of cognitive behavior therapy) is very effective for the treatment of ptsd. Emdr can be beneficial for tx of simple ptsd. It is critical that the therapist be experienced in working with ptsd. Psychotropic medications may also help. Acupuncture is now being used extensively by the military and the va for treatment of ptsd.
